Let’s go back to the basics and revise and dive deeper into a very basic composition rule that is filling the frame. Filling The Frame simply means filling your photograph with more of the subject. So instead of having negative space, or worrying about composition, you’re going to get closer and snap your image filled with the subject. Here’s an example.

Now I am going to give you some tips on how you can creatively use this rule in your photography.
1. Get Close
Use your feet as your zoom lens. Take a step closer and snap your photo. The benefit of getting close and filling the frame is that the photos will feel more intimate and personal.

2. Simple Background
Find a simple background, and photograph your subject against it. You can ask your subject to move to the background or you can crouch low and use the sky as a background for the subject.

3. Patterns
Look out for patterns in everyday things and you can fill your frame with those. You may even use patterns such as diagonals, brick walls, wood, in your background to make your shot more creative.

4. Experiment
You can go close and fill the frame with your subject’s face. Then go even closer and snap their eyes, in various compositions and expressions. Experiment a little.

5. Post Processing
You can fill the frame in a photo very tightly in the camera. But if you took your photos and realised that you’ve not gone in close enough. Just crop it! Take out any distractions by cropping the photo before sharing it.
The bottom line is that you need to fill your frame with whatever you find meaningful and you want to shoot.
