Recently, I took a photo walk near Azad Maidan in Fort, Mumbai, and I was amazed by the stunning heritage structures along the way. This area is a paradise for photographers! So today, I’m going to show you 15 must-see heritage landmarks that you shouldn’t miss. Let’s get started!
1. Capitol Cinema Building
The building was originally a theater for performing arts called Tivoli. In 1928, it was converted to a movie theater and renamed Capitol Cinema. The building is now out of use and is considered a Heritage grade II structure.

2. Bharda New High School
Built-in 1891, Bharda High School stands as a testament to timeless design, with its Neo-classical façade, intricate wrought iron grills, and wooden windows that welcome the cool breeze.

3. Church of St Columba
A striking neo-Gothic church with stained glass windows, it serves as a place of worship and community gathering. Its peaceful interiors contrast with the city’s chaos.

4. Dhiraj Chambers
A heritage commercial building with arched corridors and colonial-style detailing. It remains a hub for offices and businesses.

5. Deutsche Bank
Originally a British bank building, this grand structure now houses one of the world’s leading financial institutions, the Deutsche Bank.

6. Sterling Cineplex
It was built in 1969 and the first show to be run here was the Hollywood musical Dr Dolittle! The theatre was the first to introduce Dolby Surround Sound and Xenon Projection Systems.

7. Bandhkam Bhavan
Bandhkam Bhavan in Mumbai, India is a government office building with a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot.

8. ENT Hospital
Built in Gothic and Neo-classical styles of Architecture, this heritage structure, dated 1904, was originally built for The City Improvement Trust Board which was then converted into an E.N.T. hospital.

9. Yusuf Building
A beautifully preserved colonial structure that houses offices and retail shops like Godrej Interio.

10. Siddharth College Building
A lesser-known but historically significant structure, it houses Hotel Outram and Siddharth College of Arts, Science, and Commerce.

11. Shreeniwas House
A commercial heritage building with beautiful colonial-era detailing. It houses Mumbai’s Paradox Museum.

12. Young Ladies High School
One of Mumbai’s historic educational institutions for girls, with a heritage structure reflecting old Bombay’s charm.

13. Tata Communications
Tata Communications’ Mumbai office building is considered to be attractive and well-constructed.

14. Chemco House
This commercial building stands as a fine example of early 20th-century architecture. Its façade retains an old-world charm despite modern modifications.

15. Kitab Mahal
This building was constructed in 1890 by a British architect. The architecture of Mumbai blends Gothic, Victorian, Art Deco, Indo-Saracenic, and Contemporary architectural styles.
