Top 5 Gardens in Mumbai for Nature Photography (Best Parks to Visit in Mumbai)

Today I am going to show you the 5 best gardens in Mumbai that are perfect for nature photography. Even if you are not a photographer, you can definitely visit these gardens to spend some time with nature and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. So, let’s get going.

1. Maharashtra Nature Park – Maharashtra Nature Park (MNP) with its wonderful settings and rich biodiversity makes an ideal place for both macro and bird photography. Developed on a former garbage dumping ground, MNP has a vast expanse of man-made forest and is also surrounded by the natural ecosystem of the mangrove forests of Mithi River. I have never been disappointed by this park as it is rich with macro subjects; I am especially fond of its butterfly garden, which is surrounded by beautiful butterflies all year long. Entry fee is Rs 20 per person, and Rs 100 are the camera charges for every person.

2. Hanging Garden – The Hanging Gardens, in Mumbai, also known as Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens, are terraced gardens perched at the top of Malabar Hill, on its western side, just opposite the Kamala Nehru Park. Entry is free and there are no camera charges. With a history of over 138 years, it stands as a popular spot where Mumbaikars come to spend a few moments in the cradle of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the ever-buzzing city. The park offers outstanding sunset views of the Arabian Sea, making it even more interesting for photographers and nature lovers.

3. Five Gardens – Five Gardens comprise 5 open circular gardens in Matunga. This is the best place for jogging, running, practicing cricket, football, games, and of course, photography. We have 5 gardens here, hence the name – a big garden in the center, Garden D is a kids’ garden with a lot of rides and games for kids, Garden C is dedicated to sports like cricket, football, etc., so you can get some action shots here, Garden A has some cool plants and trees, so it’s very good for macro photography, and there is another small garden here. Entry is free in all 5 gardens and there are no camera charges.

4. B.P.T. Garden – Bombay Port Trust garden, also known as Sagar Upvan, is another garden created from a garbage dumping ground. It is a very beautiful and well-maintained garden. The garden is surrounded by lush green trees and plants. We also have a sea-facing view. Timings are 6 am to 11 am in the morning and 4 pm to 8 pm in the evening. Entry fee is Rs 5 per person. Camera charges are Rs 500 for every group.

5. Rani Baug – Rani Baug is a botanical garden and zoo located in Byculla, Mumbai. It is the oldest public garden in the city and is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. The biodiversity of the place makes it a popular destination for nature lovers and photographers. Timings: 09:30 am – 06:00 pm, Ticket Price is Rs 20 per adult, Rs 10 for children, camera charges Rs 100 per person. The zoo is shut on Wednesdays.

My favorite spot for photography out of these gardens is definitely Maharashtra Nature Park. It is rich with so many subjects; I have never gone to MNP and returned empty-handed. It is also very huge, has a lot of space, and you can spend hours there and still feel fresh.
